Rubies Class

Welcome to Rubies Class.
In the morning, we are made up of Reception and Year 1 children and during the afternoon our Year 2 children join us.
On a Monday and Tuesday, our teacher is Mrs Burgoyne and on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, our teacher is Mrs Haycocks. Miss Kelly and Miss Leese are our teaching assistants throughout the week. All the adults that work in our class are warm and friendly and they help us by making learning fun. Our holistic and child centred approach enables us to cater for all learning needs. We learn through play and utilise both the outdoor and indoor environment to enhance and enrich our learning experience.

Autumn Term 2021

This term in Rubies, our topic is Amazing Animals. We will be using stories such as ‘Oi Frog!’ to help us with our writing and looking at a variety of different animals and begin to classify and group them in Science. Our History topic is War and Remembrance where we will learn about WW1.

Forest School Day

Each half term we have a whole school forest school day. For Autumn 1 our theme was ‘The Big Dig’.

In Rubies we had so much fun! We started the day with a Bear Hunt through the forest where instead of finding a big grizzly bear in the cave, we found Paddington! Paddington had left us a letter and asked for our help to find lots of coins that had been buried. When we found the coins, we had to sort them into the right group of materials and then we spent them on materials to build our London Landmarks. It was an amazing day.
